Lady Rose Cholmondeley, president of Chopin Society UK awarded the "Gloria Artis" gold medal
On 27 November 2011 Lady Rose Cholmondeley, president of Chopin Society UK, was awarded the Polish Medal for Merit to Culture - Gloria Artis in gold by HE Ms. Barbara Tuge - Erecińska the Polish Ambassador in a ceremony held at the The Embassy of the Republic or Poland in London.
The Gloria Artis medal is a decoration for the Arts awarded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland for distinguished contributions to the protection of the Polish culture.
The award ceremony was followed by a piano recital by the distinguished French pianist Pascal Roge who performed works by Chopin, Fauré, Debussy, Ravel and Poulnec. This was the final concert of the Chopin Society's 40th Anniversary Season.
Pascal Roge exemplifies the finest in French pianism; his playing of Pouleuc, Satie, Fauré, Saint-Saëns or Ravel in particular is characterised by its elegance, beauty and delicate phrasing—his name is simply synonymous with the best playing of French repertory in the world today.
