The Chopin bicentenary bust unveiling ceremony at Trinity College of Music
After months of planning, the Polish Heritage Society working with Trinity College of Music and The Polish Cultural Institute were able to co-host a lunchtime reception on 21st September, 2010, to unveil a bronze bust of Chopin marking the bicentenary of his birth.
Over 40 guests made their way up the Thames on a morning blessed with sunshine and with the benefit of breakfast and an on-board brass quintet supplied by Trinity College. At midday, HRH the Duke of Kent joined everyone and was received by Prof Aviss, Principal of Trinity College of Music and Tomasz Kozlowski, chargé d’affaires from The Polish Embassy.
We were delighted to see HRH The Duke of Kent unveil the beautiful bust in a music room at Trinity. After a wonderful recital by Alexander Ardakov, a buffet lunch rounded off what was a perfect event.
Special thanks must go to Trinity College, The Polish Cultural Institute, The Polish National Tourist office, Mr George Coelho, Abbey Printers and Alexander Ardakov.
